The Government of Cameroon is committed to ensuring the continued availability of contraceptive products by strengthening last mile distribution and strengthening engagement and multi-sectoral support for Family Planning.

Cameroon Commitment Objectives

  • Increase modern contraceptive prevalence from 15.4% to 35% by 2030 and reduce unmet needs for Family Planning (FP) from 23 to 10%.
  • Increase by 2030, from 8% to 30% the number of women of childbearing age (15-49 years) who have access to quality modern contraceptive services in underserved areas through community distribution.
  • Promote and protect the rights of Adolescents and Young People to sexual and reproductive health services, including contraception.
  • Ensure uninterrupted availability of the full range of good quality FP products at all levels of the health pyramid.
  • Bring at least 70% of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) involved in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Cameroon to automatically integrate promotional activities into their annual action plan of FP towards members of their communities.
  • Strengthen coordination/monitoring-evaluation and monitoring mechanisms for RH/FP activities, at the national, regional, health district, CSO and associations of young people involved in RH/FP.
  • Ensure the availability and use of FP services among vulnerable populations in areas experiencing humanitarian crisis, including in the Covid-19 context.
  • Increase state funding for Family Planning by 2030.
