As part of its commitment to FP2030, the Girls’ Community works to increase awareness of the importance of family planning and sexual and reproductive health among its members.
Commitments made to:
Girls Community commits to the implementation of action research projects on child marriage.
Girls Community Commitment Narratives
- Conduct action research projects on child marriage in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Explore facilitators and barriers to the realization of the right to sexual and reproductive health of adolescents and youth.
- Evaluate innovations to improve access to services for adolescents and youth in the provinces of Tanganyika, Kinshasa, Kwilu, Haut-Katanga, South and North Kivu, and Kasai-Occidental.
- Establish the Interdisciplinary Center for Community Health Development (CIDCS) in partnership with the Interdisciplinary Center for International Health Development at Sherbrook University and the ABC Center for Academic Expertise in Mental Health at Sherbrook University.
- Target 140,000 beneficiaries by 2030 at a rate of 17,500 per year, 20,000 per province.
- Increase access to sexual and reproductive health services to 60% of adolescents and youth in 7 provinces by 2030.
- Reduce the rate of child marriage to 55% in the Democratic Republic of Congo by 2030.
