She is presently serving as Additional Secretary and Mission Director (NHM) in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.  

Before coming on central deputation, she was holding the portfolio of Principal Secretary, Commercial Taxes in the Government of Jharkhand. She has served as District Magistrate/Collector in four hard to reach and Left wing extremist (Naxal) affected districts of Jharkhand. She has also worked as Secretary in various departments viz. Human Resource and Development, School Education and Literacy, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Rural Engineering Works, Housing and Finance and has also served as Mission Director, National Rural Health Mission, State Labour Commissioner & Director Industries in the state of Jharkhand.
