Honduras Commitment Objectives

  • The government of Honduras prioritizes as a fundamental element to achieve individual wellbeing, universal health coverage and access, progress in the gender and women’s and adolescents’ rights objectives included in the national agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Promote policies, regulations and programs based on data and evidence to guarantee the quality of care, promotion and prevention based on primary health care and sexual and reproductive rights.
  • Increase, diversify and effectively utilize funding for family planning services with national funds, having a resilience plan and sustainably funding the family planning program by eliminating out-of-pocket spending by households.
  • Generate gender-focused regulations supporting the decision of women and adolescents to use modern contraceptive methods.
  • Improve the responsiveness of the health system to individual rights and needs in family planning by meeting the needs for information, comprehensive quality services, and assured availability of modern contraceptive methods and supplies.
  • Implement an accountability system that involves transparent monitoring and sharing of the progress of the Family Planning Program process.
