Just one year after establishing its Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Regional Hub in Panama, FP2030 proudly announces a major milestone: 170 National and Global Actors (NGA) have committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in the region.
This achievement is a testament to the growing momentum behind family planning, gender equality, and youth empowerment in the LAC region. It reflects a broad and diverse coalition of actors—including governments, civil society organizations, youth networks, private sector partners, and development agencies—joining forces to accelerate progress toward universal access to rights-based family planning.
Since the launch of the LAC Hub in early 2024, FP2030 has worked tirelessly to localize its vision, support capacity-building, and amplify the voices of regional changemakers. Over the past twelve months, the hub has co-created inclusive spaces for knowledge sharing, strengthened youth leadership, and built new partnerships that resonate with the unique challenges and aspirations of communities across the region.
“Reaching 170 commitments in just one year is more than a numerical milestone—it’s a reflection of the collective will across Latin America and the Caribbean to center reproductive autonomy and health equity,” said María Paula Martínez, Regional Managing Director of the FP2030 LAC Hub. “This is only the beginning. Together with our partners, we’re laying the foundation for transformative, long-lasting change.”
These commitments span a range of strategic areas including expanding adolescent- and youth-friendly services, integrating sexual and reproductive health and rights with climate resilience and social protection programs, improving access in rural and indigenous communities, promoting data-driven decision making, and ensuring sustainable financing for family planning.
Notably, youth have played a central role in this progress. The FP2030 Youth Wave in LAC now includes over 230 young leaders from 28 countries, actively shaping policy conversations, launching innovative initiatives, and reaching more than 120,000 young people every month with critical information about SRHR.
As FP2030 looks ahead, the LAC Hub will continue its mission to strengthen accountability, deepen engagement with governments and grassroots movements, and push for inclusive policies that reflect the region’s diversity and dynamism.
