FP Accountability Dashboard marks a turning point for family planning progress measurement
After nearly a year of dedicated work and collaboration, the Kyrgyz Republic has taken a significant step forward in advancing the measurement of family planning commitments by launching a national family planning dashboard, TRACK.SDG3.7 — a pioneering achievement in the region led by the government. The dashboard is a groundbreaking platform that does far more than monitor statistics. It represents hope, transparency, and commitment to the lives of women and families across the country.
The dashboard marks a significant milestone in the Kyrgyz Republic’s journey as an FP2030 commitment maker, which began in 2017 with FP2020, when the country committed to expanding access to family planning services, particularly for women at high medical risk and socially vulnerable groups. Gathering at the Kara Bulak Eco-Resort, 28 participants and stakeholders — from ministries, UNFPA Kyrgyz Republic, civil society, and regional medical centers — convened for a two-day accountability workshop in August 2024 to turn national commitments on family planning into tangible, measurable outcomes.
This gathering was more than just a meeting — it was the culmination of years of commitment, strategy, and technical collaboration. It also marked the beginning of a new chapter: the creation of TRACK.SDG3.7 by the Kyrgyz Republic.
This dashboard is the first of its kind in the region — a government-endorsed tool designed to monitor progress on family planning goals. This tracker is adopting the Motion Tracker approach, an accountability tool originally created by Samasha Medical Foundation. FP2030 Asia and the Pacific Regional Hub, along with UNFPA Kyrgyz Republic, provided technical and financial assistance for conducting the accountability workshop, developing and validating the indicators, and developing the TRACKSDG3.7.
What makes this TRACKSDG3.7 exceptional is the active leadership role of the government, not just as a participant, but as a co-creator with UNFPA Kyrgyz Republic, Family Planning Alliance, regional medical centers, and other partners, also as an official endorser of the process. During the development, FP2030 Asia and the Pacific Regional Hub, and UNFPA Kyrgyz Republic, organized regular follow-ups to identify strategic alignment with other partners to ensure this Dashboard is not just about a tool, but a collaboration to advance reproductive health in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Following this process, the TRACKSDG3.7 stands as a national-level tool that enables transparent, data-driven tracking of progress. The success of this initiative highlights a growing recognition in the Kyrgyz Republic that strong accountability mechanisms are critical to ensuring universal access to quality family planning and reproductive health services.
This collaborative model of shared responsibility, data transparency, and cross-sectoral coordination sets a new standard, not only for Kyrgyzstan but for other countries in the FP2030 partnership.
