The government of the United Kingdom is committed to providing voluntary family planning support to 24 million girls and women in the world's poorest countries.

The UK believes that women and girls should have the fundamental right to plan the size of their families, and their support will contribute to ensuring access to affordable and high-quality contraceptive methods.

In 2012, the UK committed £516 million over eight years towards the goal of enabling an additional 120 million women and girls in the world’s poorest countries to be using modern methods of family planning by 2020. In 2017, the British government committed to spending at least an average of £225 million on family planning every year for the next five years.

  • Save the lives of 42,000 girls and women at risk.
  • Promote women’s right to plan their families.

  • Educate and provide counseling on family planning.
  • Ensure safeguards against coercion and discrimination.
  • Commit £516 million (US $800 million) over eight years.
  • Double efforts on family planning by increasing investments to £180 million per year.
