Dear colleagues,
Like many of you, we are looking forward to being together at the International Conference on Family Planning in Pattaya, Thailand in just a few weeks. We are eager for the opportunities to learn from one another, to find opportunities to work together and to share in our successes. FP2030 is looking forward to celebrating and amplifying dozens of new FP2030 commitments from governments, donors, NGOs, and the private sector. We are looking forward to conversations about how we change power structures in family planning and work together to build a world for 8 billion that is inclusive of all people everywhere, centered on human rights and dignity.
We hope that you will take time to connect with FP2030, whether at one of the concurrent sessions where we will be presenting, on the ICFP Live stage or at our booth (come pick up an FP2030 Bingo card for a chance to win a prize!) Meet the new managing directors of our East and South Africa — Dr. Sheila Macharia — and North, West and Central Africa Hubs (to be announced tomorrow!).
Warmly,
Dr. Samukeliso Dube
Executive Director
The FP2030 side event will be an opportunity to celebrate the strength and resilience of the family planning movement. In the past three years, the world has faced a global pandemic that put an unprecedented strain on national health systems and global supply chains; this followed other regional epidemics in Africa and Latin America, along with political upheavals and financial declines. And throughout it all, governments, NGOs, donors and suppliers worked together to sustain access to family planning services, and the FP2030 2022 Progress Report shows that more and more women and girls are using modern contraception. Registration required.
This session will feature inspiring and engaging conversations about shifting power in the global family planning movement and the advancement of human rights, alongside announcements of groundbreaking FP2030 commitments. Don’t miss your chance to meet the first two managing directors of FP2030 regional hubs, and learn how the FP2030 support network continues to grow with new leadership, new regional presence, and new commitments.
